Jonathan Williams is the host and producer of the Welsh History Podcast, which he started in May 2016. Jonathan has a passion for storytelling and history, particularly focusing on the cultural and historical heritage of Wales. 

Alongside his podcast work, he is also the Managing Director of Distractions Media. 

Over the years, he has accumulated over 240 podcast episodes across his projects, sharing Welsh history from ancient times to the present. 

The Welsh History Podcast tells the story of Wales, exploring its history chronologically from the early Stone Age to modern times. The podcast releases episodes approximately twice a month and has been ongoing for over seven years.

Each episode delves into various aspects of Welsh history, aiming to provide an accessible and engaging narrative for listeners interested in Wales and its rich past.

Like many podcasters, Jonathan is passionate about the topic he talks on his show. 

But he was struggling to find ways to monetize his podcast, so he asked GHA Marketing to help him find sponsors for his show. 

1,5 month after onboarding, GHA Marketing found and negotiated a first sponsor for Jonathan: Wales Outdoor. 

The objective when looking for sponsor is to reach out to companies for whom the audience is the most valuable. Meaning, the audience actually is the ideal client of a mid to high ticket offer. 

This has two main benefits: 

  • The companies are willing to pay more for the same amount of downloads
  • The audience is not antagonized by random/irrelevant ads (which would be the case in a static/dynamic ad scenario for example). 
This is exactly what GHA Marketing did for Jonathan, resulting in a 4 to 1 return on investment as of the first sponsor! Transforming the way Jonathan sees and lives his podcast.

 

GHA Marketing not only did build a list of potential sponsors, they reached out to them with a specific email sequence that has been refined through hundreds of email campaigns, took the first call with the sponsors and negotiated on behalf of Jonathan to make sure best practices were followed. Both for the benefit of Jonathan and the sponsor. 

 
Next steps include finding more sponsors for Welsh History Podcast, and take the podcast to a new level through reach extension to appeal more sponsors and being able to negotiate even bigger sponsorship contracts!
